Want to ignore your parent’s text? ReplyASAP won’t let you do that

For such a long time (probably from the beginning of the mankind), interacting with kids has been the biggest challenge for any parent out there. Things have become just worse these days thanks to technology. Kids now days tend to know a lot more about tech than the parents do. For instance, they know exactly how to ignore their parents and do whatever they want.

While all the parents are only complaining, Nick Herbert, a frustrated dad found a solution. With the help of a friend, he created an app called ReplyASAP, which will let you send an urgent message that can’t be ignored.

The problem started when he bought his 12-year-old son a phone to get in touch with him, after giving him a lot of freedom. However, this created a new problem. As it was a smartphone, his son was too busy to play games and watch videos and put his phone on silent. So, he wanted to develop something that will let his son know that he is trying to contact him even his phone is silent.

“I wanted to be able to set an alarm on his phone — that was the gem of the idea,” Herbert told CBS. “Alarms sound even on silent. Why can’t I set an alarm on his phone in order to do that?”

How does it work?

To make your kid reply to your message, first of all, you have to download the ReplyASAP app from the Play Store and invite your child to download it too. After your kid accepts it, both of you can start sending “ASAP message” to each other.

After the message is delivered, it takes over the phone screen, interrupting whatever your kid is doing. Don’t worry if their phone is in silent mode, an alarm will ring anyway, leaving your kid with two options — hit the snooze button for 3 minutes while replying, or cancel it. Depending on the option they choose, you will get a notification. You will also get a notification if your kids delete the app from their phone.

Some parents have been complaining that this app is useless as their children hit the cancel button and do whatever they want. However, Herbert explained this app isn’t meant to bug the kids. It should be used with mutual understanding and for emergencies.

“I told my son, ‘If you want to make it urgent send me one of these. If you want to know where some socks are, send a text message and I can reply when I can,’” Herbert said.

ReplyASAP is currently available only on Android with an iOS version coming soon. It’s free to download, but you’ll have to pay for bundles.

So, kids, you still want to ignore your mom and dad? You better not.
