Player To Watch: Nicolae Stanciu

Romanian playmaker Stanciu made his international debut on 23 March 2016, making a bright start to his international career with 4 goals in 6 appearances. The 23-year old plies his trade in the Romanian Liga I with FC Steaua București for now but a move to a high-profile European league seems imminent for the € 3.5 million rated man. Stanciu had a reasonable goal scoring 2015/2016 season from midfield with 13 goals in 34 appearances for Steau, he also provided 11 assists.

The decision to entrust Stanciu with Romania and Galatasaray legend Gheorghe Hagi ‘s number 10 jersey is a testament to the ability and potential of the player but also places the burden of expectation on his shoulders. While Stanciu is unlikely to reach the heights the man known as ‘Regele’ (The King) did, if he has half the career Hagi had it would still be very impressive indeed.
