About Theo James

The Man

Theodore Peter James Kinnaird Taptiklis, as is his birth name, was born December 16th, 1984 in in Oxford, Oxfordshire, England. He is the youngest of five children (two brothers and two sisters) and the son of Jane (née Martin) and Philip Taptiklis. Theo James’ ancestry includes Greek, from his paternal grandfather, English and Scottish. Before pursuing acting, Theo earned his undergraduate degree in Philosophy from the University of Nottingham.

The Actor

Theo James got his acting training at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has starred in numerous Television series and movies, the most prominent being his starring role in the short-lived CBS series “Golden Boy”. When that series was cancelled, he took on the role of “Four” in The Divergent Series, the role that he has become the most famous for. Other memorable roles he played were Turkish diplomat “Kemal Pamuk” in the first season of Downton Abbey and “David” in the fourth of the Underworld movies called “Underworld: Awakening”.

The Musician

Theo James also pursued a music career before settling into acting. He was the singer and guitarist of the London-based band Shere Khan. Shere Khan disbanded in November of 2012, but Theo has recently admitted to having an interest in recording music again.

The Model and Spokesperson

Theo James has served as spokesperson for Audi Automobiles and more recently for Hugo Boss and their new “The Scent” fragrance.
