Newport Beach Film Festival Adds ‘The Secret Scripture’ To Its Irish Spotlight Lineup

The Newport Beach Film Festival (NBFF) has just unveiled its lineup for its 18th annual iteration, and for its Irish Showcase has chosen ‘The Secret Scripture’ as one of the films it will show. The Irish Showcase event will take place on April 23 and will celebrate Celtic cinema and culture by hosting numerous premieres with the participation of their Irish filmmakers and actors.

According to Variety:

Sheridan’s newest film, “The Secret Scripture,” is based on Sebastian Barry’s intense novel and stars Vanessa Redgrave as a resident at St. Malachai’s Mental Hospital. Hickey notes Sheridan’s “signature sense of storytelling juxtaposed with his natural depth of feeling for Irish social history.” Eric Bana, Rooney Mara and Jack Reynor star.

The festival will take place from April 29–27th in Newport Beach, California, however, The Secret Scripture will be screened on April 23 at 6:00pm. The cost of each ticket is $25, which you may purchase directly from the NBFF Website. A guest list for the event has not been released yet, but we will keep you up to date as soon as more info is available.
