Theo James starring in Sex With Strangers—Gallery Alert & Review Roundup

Manuel Harlan

Elliot Franks has posted a gallery of lovely photos from Sex With Strangers, the play Theo James is currently starring in alongside Emilia Fox. The play is set in a bed & breakfast and then an apartment, and follows a popular sex blogger (James) and an author-turned-teacher (Fox) through their trysts and career ups and downs. One review mentions the term “publishing p*rn” and this aspiring author (yours truly) is intrigued just for that. Add in Theo James and it sounds like the perfect way to spend a night at the theatre.

Reviews have been back and forth for Theo’s return to the stage. Below are a few of the more popular ones.

“Sex With Strangers at the Hampstead is just literary escapism for anxious scribblers” — The Spectator

“Sex with Strangers is not only erotic and humorous as the title may suggest, but an intelligent discussion of a contemporary topic that feels very relevant in a time where — through social media — everyone’s a critic”—A Younger Theatre

“An illicit tryst more for oglers than for theatre-lovers”—The Telegraph

“Theo James is a lost boy looking for love”—Ham&High Etcetera

Other notes include: “Theo James is the real deal” and “Despite fine performances, Laura Eason’s 2009 play about two writers having a fling is too rooted in its time.

Honestly, this play sounds like it’s right up my alley, and I wish I had the chance to see Theo James starring in it. Alas, I doubt I’ll be making it to London before the play closes March 4, 2017. I hope those who do get to see it will enjoy.
