What is The Thing Today? [Not Started]

A shortcut to the day’s perspectives

The social media revolution has enabled our society to create seemingly air tight echo chambers, and because of this, the “thing” of the day (i.e., the main news and/or narrative) increasingly drives a wedge between the American political left and right. If the gap between the left and the right gets big enough, society can be pushed to the brink.

…a heathy exposure to “the other side” and their perspective…

It’s not clear how this problem can be solved, but we need to start working towards a solution quickly. At minimum, part of the solution is likely to include a heathy exposure to “the other side” and their perspective — to slowly pull ourselves out of the wedge-building echo chambers.

What is The Thing Today? In essence, it is an aggregation of the day’s top story into a format designed around bite-sized exposure to alternative views juxtaposed to your own.

What is the purpose of The Thing Today? It is to encourage more people to build the habit of interacting with alternative points of view.
