In an open-question survey conducted on Grade 12 Scholars of Philippine Science High School Caraga Region Campus, the awareness and knowledge of the scholars regarding local health protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic and their experiences in following them were inquired. The responses of the students show that they mostly have preliminary knowledge on the protocols but are not really informed on the more specific ordinances in their area.

The researchers Joshua Estigoy, Jemuel Mongado, and Janford Priete sought to investigate on how well informed the Grade 12 scholars are on local health protocols to assess the degree of which the scholars will keep themselves safe from COVID-19.

The survey asked questions on what rules and regulations the students know regarding COVID-19 prevention protocols. Most of them emphasized that wearing proper protective equipment such as surgical masks and face shields are an absolute must in outdoor activities. A recurring response is the six feet distancing rule advised by health organizations.

Some are knowledgeable on specific details on ordinances enforced in their area. A scholar residing in Butuan City mentioned the Modified General Community Quarantine being enforced by the IATF on the city. Some also know curfew hours for minors and age restrictions for activities outside of homes. They also mentioned the quarantine pass system, stating that they regulate social and economic activities that might be at risk of infecting many individuals.

A few of the respondents stated that they or someone else they know have experienced COVID-19 tests, and shared their experiences. They mostly have confidence in the reliability of the tests, but some are skeptical due to reports of faulty tests.

The survey concluded that the respondents are adequately informed in terms of prevention of infection, but they are not generally well informed in protocols of wider or more specific scales. The researchers conclude that the scholars will be able to keep being adequately informed and obedient in following local health protocols to protect themselves from infection of SARS-CoV2.
