Leading science institutions in the region met at the Philippine Science High School — Caraga Region Campus Audio-Visual Room last Tuesday to form a STEM Alliance, to provide stronger STEM learning in Caraga.

The creation was spearheaded by PSHS-CRC campus director Engr. Ramil Sanchez, together with Department of Science and Technology-Caraga director Engr. Noel M. Ajoc, Caraga State University president Dr. Anthony Penaso, and Butuan City Committee on Science and Technology Development Head Hon. Cherry May Busa.

“This is an alliance to promote STEM education which has proven to be the backbone of advanced economies,” Engr. Sanchez stated.

Suggesting the increased number of students in PSHS-CRC, Engr. Sanchez noted the importance of strengthening the necessary resources for STEM education in the region.

For the first time in its admission history, PSHS-CRC welcomed 120 students for the upcoming school year 2022–2023, one-third higher compared to the older batches’ 90 slots.

Meanwhile, Hon. Busa highlighted the significance of this increase in STEM learning to cope with the dynamic science community.

“Butuan City and the Caraga Region are striving very hard to generate the human capital required to answer the fast-growing science and technology industry.”

“We need to produce a digitally-skilled workforce to respond to the call of the digital world,” Hon. Busa added.
