“No internet. No source of electricity. No conducive learning environment. No stable mental state. No hope and motivation.”

This was how the Supreme Student Government (SSG) of the Philippine Science High School – Cagayan Valley Campus (PSHS-CVC) depicted the current aftermath of the catastrophic onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses, emphasizing that it has paralyzed the majority and has hindered access to every possible medium for remote learning.

In line with this, the SSG has released an official statement, asserting a 5-point demand unto the administration of PSHS-CVC “as it is deemed vital with the current progression of events which directly affect the entire student body”.

“As it impedes the retention of lessons, resulting in most students to submit only out of compliance, the reduction of heavy and burdensome academic workload handed to students in the form of requirements is necessary,” the PSHS-CVC SSG stated.

Urging for an active student council and representation of students in the decision-making process of the administration, the PSHS-CVC SSG also demanded for the provision of clear communication and faster responses or actions to the student body’s requests and concerns.

Amidst the recovery from the heavy flood brought by Typhoon Ulysses, the student body representatives also called on the administration’s facilitation of economic and psycho-social relief to its constituents, including all students, faculty, and staff.

“The organization is expectant that the institution would provide utmost care and protection to the safety and well-being of its students, teachers, and staff. And the whole student body reiterates that if you truly care, the challenge is spot on that you take the students’ side. No scholar left behind!” highlighted PSHS-CVC SSG.
