In line with the Philippine Science High School — Caraga Region Campus’s (PSHS-CRC) 10th Foundation Anniversary, a book launching activity was held at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR) on November 14, 2022 to unveil the campus’s first coffee table book.

The event was centered around reading the book which contained stories of scholars, parents, and employees throughout their years in the school, as well as the history of the establishment.

“This coffee table book gives us 10 years worth of reading stories and leaves experiences of the Pisay Caraga Community,” English teacher and co-author Lily Dale Subla stated.

The book was authored by teachers of the English Unit, namely Jan Grenechaux V. Bohol, Jennifer A. Balicog, Lily Dale M. Subla, Vonna Vejle V. Ahon, and Kenneth Jeason B. Garcia.

During the event, several featured personalities were invited to read about their stories in the book. Among them were Campus Director Engr. Ramil A. Sanchez and Philippine Science High School System (PSHSS) Executive Director Lilia T. Habacon; however, Habacon was not able to attend the event in person, so a proxy was asked to read her on her behalf.

Sponsor GPTA Presidents from 2014 until 2022, namely Nestor B. Gumahad (2014–2018), Dexter G. Soberano (2018–2021), and the incumbent president, Dr. Kathleen Grace C. Gamutan (2021-present) also attended the event as they spoke about their experiences and thoughts as parents of the scholars.

Featured scholars were also invited to the launching event, including Elan Victoria G. Tomaneng, Cris Adrielle Abrea, and Stacey Louise A. Hurtado.

Employees, namely Kenneth Jeason B. Garcia, Flora Mae O. Tormento, and Joanne N. Secaluya also spoke about their experiences while working in PSHS-CRC.

Additionally, all of these stories and moments included messages of inspiration for the next generation of individuals within the institution, may they be students, employees, or parents.

“Today, this occasion in particular, would be impossible had it not been for the generosity of our major sponsors,” said Jan Grenechaux V. Bohol, a teacher and a writer, thanking the sponsors who supported the project.

The sponsors in particular were the GPTA, including the former and current presidents, the campus director, the CID Chief Dr. Mary Ann Ganzon, the SSD Chief Jasmine S. Gumapac, and the FAD Chief Charity S. Romano.

Currently, physical copies of the book are yet to be available for distribution as there was only a limited supply, although a soft copy of the book can be accessed through a QR code and a URL. More information about the release of physical copies of the book will later follow.
