In an interview conducted by The Thirteenth Scholars, Philippine Science High School-Caraga Region Campus (PSHS-CRC) Campus Director Engr. Ramil A. Sanchez disclosed insights on the system’s draft plan for the pilot resumption of on-site classes set on January 2022.

During the initial stage of the interview, he stated that the in-person pilot classes would be applicable to the Grade 12 students only.

In line with the Department of Health (DOH) Protocols on COVID Safety, he added that the three sections would be divided into 15 students per classroom to lessen the risk of viral exposure.

“The teacher will go to two rooms alternately; but we will also use technology like lapel and television,” Engr. Sanchez said.

Engr. Sanchez emphasized the use of these devices to refrain contact with the students during classes, but still maximize face-to-face learning despite the new restrictions.

Face-to-face classes intended for the STEM subjects are only scheduled for mornings.

Moreover, Engr. Sanchez further discussed the dormitory arrangements for the tentative pilot face-to-face classes.

He stated that students who opt to stay in the PSHS-CRC dormitory would have to follow certain protocols, such as the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) nasopharyngeal swab test that detects COVID-19 prior to checking in.

“When the student enters the campus, there will be a requirement like an RT-PCR Test, and of course there will be a health declaration,” Sanchez added.

All said requirements and protocols to be implemented are for the safety of the students, faculty, and staff.

Engr. Sanchez clarified that these plans are not yet approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) and the official announcement of the final plan is still yet to come.
