As a result of the casualties caused by typhoon Odette in CARAGA, the Philippine Science High School Caraga Region Campus (PSHS-CRC) recently permitted dormitory occupation to scholars affected by the typhoon from Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands.

On January 5, 2022, PSHS-CRC held an orientation for the scholars regarding the dormitory accommodation in Northeastern Mindanao Colleges (NEMCO), Surigao City.

Furthermore, fares and budget meals were all charged by the donations given by members of the PMA Maalab Class of 1993.

General Parents-Teachers Association (GPTA) will also be lending bedsheets, clothes, toiletries, and other necessities to the scholars.

The Adopt a Scholar program, wherein heavily affected scholars will temporarily stay with another scholar’s family to continue learning, will also be implemented by the GPTA.

Most of the affected scholars had no access to stable signals, electricity, and water which caused difficulties in online classes.

Casualties caused by the typhoon affected the 128,000 people of Dinagat Islands, with 14 dead and 14,000 houses left damaged while 50,957 families affected, 23,738 houses were destroyed, and 19,424 were damaged in Surigao with power and water yet to be restored in the said areas.
