Yes, rest is good for NBA players and bad for the fans. Should we care about the players though? We should, however, the NBA is a business and will start to see a loss of revenue and excitement if more and more players are being rested randomly throughout the year. NFL — No rest. MLB — No rest. People buy tickets in advance of games and then they get to the stadium and Lebron James or Steph Curry is on the bench. It’s heartbreaking as a fan because you really come to watch the best talent play and without them, there is no fun and love for the game. If this becomes a bigger problem, people will begin to stop attending games later on in the season. This also has the ability to reduce team revenue and attendance. It will definetly decline. The NBA needs to figure out a way where players dont need to be rested. Shorten the season or spread the season out more. I think the idea of spreading the season out more can work. It will give the players more travel time and rest in between games. I think if they implement this, they then could vote on a rule that would stop coaches from resting players or another rule where every player gets a certain amount of games off for rest. Then, the coach must announce prior to the season the games that were chosen. This gives the fans the ability to know what games which player is taking off and the fans dont waste money. This could have a downside, but it’s an idea. What I want is for teams to reinburce fans who come to a game and then hear Lebron, Curry, or any other star is out due to rest. I feel that would be the sincere thing to do, however, that will not be happening. So, spread out the season. I think it’s worth a try to see how it works. Right now, it’s clear that more resting of players is taking place and it’s becoming a problem and it better be fixed before it gets worse or becomes too late.
