Dear “Normal” People…

One of the greatest frustrations Trans people face is the resistance from cisgender people who tell us we’re wrong for having an incongruence with our assigned gender. Worse, they flat out tell us we’re mentally ill. What I find interesting is that while these hateful tones are rampant all over the internet, I have yet to encounter anyone who would dare say them to my face.

To be fair, I kind of live in a bubble. While my job takes me all over Oklahoma I don’t get much more criticism than people staring. I imagine this is because rural folk aren’t as abrasive to a person’s face as you might…
