Iceland had never been on my radar for traveling due to the high costs, however due to their shifting economy and drive to draw in tourism, it quickly made its way to the top of my list. Personally, I could not stay in Iceland for too long, as it was still a bit too pricey for my taste, but it is still a fantastic segue or beginning to a trip if you plan on heading to other parts of Europe. Here is an itinerary during mid-June for two in Iceland for two weeks with the main mode of transportation and source for accommodations being a van.

Day 1

LAX>>PDX — $380 per person (included bag)

Westjet 12:00PM depart , YEG arrives 4:14 pm

Day 2

YEG >> KEF 6:40AM

Find ride to Reykjavik to pick up van

Groceries! — $50

Penis Museum — $14.50

Overnight: Albert’s Convenient Camper — $37 per day

Day 3

Wake up early and enjoy sunrise

Walk through city center

Blue Lagoon 9:00PM — Experience Comfort Package — $58

Day 4

Head to northwest peninsula

Kirkjufell and Londranger

Enjoy sunset

Day 5

Head to Golden Circle

Stop at Hraunfossar

Go to Thingvellir National Park

Day 6

Early morning to Haukadalur Geyser

Gullfoss

Overnight: Albert’s Convenient Camper

Day 7

Head to Seljalandsfoss

Stop at Skogafoss

See Fjdragljufur canyon

Overnight: Albert’s Convenient Camper

Day 8

Explore Vik

Get gas — $100

Drive to Fjadrargljufur Canyon and hike around

Overnight: Albert’s Convenient Camper

Day 9

Go to Jökulsárlón Glacier lagoon

Hike through the canyon

Drive to nearby beaches!

Overnight: Albert’s Convenient Camper

Day 10

Make way to East Fjords and stop along the way

Overnight: Albert’s Convenient Camper

Day 11

Drive to Lake Myvatn (geothermal)

Keep driving the ring road to see northern waterfalls

Overnight: Albert’s Convenient Camper

Day 12

Make way to Akureyri (second largest city)

Get gas — $100

Groceries! — $40

Spend most of day at Hornstrandir Nature Reserve

End day near Dynjandi Falls

Overnight: Albert’s Convenient Camper

Day 13

Head toward the peninsula

See the Gerðuberg Basalt Cliffs

Find some hot baths to relax — $3 per person

Day 14

Back to Reykjavik

Drop off camper

Find ride to airport

KEF>>TXL — $127

Air Berlin 1:00PM depart to, TXL arrives 5:25PM

I headed to Germany after so that I could explore more of Europe, but Iceland is now stuck on my top 3 favorite places. The entire trip in Iceland for airfare, food, accommodations, and other activities cost under $950 per person.
