- No parking pass is required, but a backcountry permit is required to camp overnight in North Cascades National Park.
- Reservations can be submitted from March 15th to April 30th for camping between the dates of May 15th through September 30th. Otherwise, try your luck on a weekday for walk-up permits at the ranger station.
- Best time to go is early August through late September. Check WTA trip report and weather conditions prior to going, and bring microspikes if out of season.
- Pack extra layers and prepare for sudden weather changes. The high altitude and wind can make it very cold at night.
- Enjoy wild berries along the trail during berry season Aug-Sept.
- Check our detailed list of ultralight gear for Sahale Arm (2 people, overnight).
