Becoming A Parent

On the magical miracle of becoming a parent

Where’s Wally: ultrasound image of an early pregnancy — photo by author

Seven years ago, I was in the midst of a very exciting period. I was on my way of becoming a dad. It was scary and inspiring at the same time. A period of fear and more hope. And connection. With your partner and with the growing baby. I wrote poetry and stories and songs for our first-born-to-be. Also to express my rollercoaster of emotions. So, when I saw Brian Kurian sharing poems about this exact same journey, everything I experiencd on my journey flooded my mind. So, I wanted to have him in my podcast. Fortunately, he accepted. Listen to the episode here.

Please visit Brian’s profile to read his stories and poems, also those not about being a parent. One I particularly liked, because it speaks of his love for his wife and son-to-be, is this one:

In the show, he also talks about his wish to build a little library of books for his son, so he can get lost in stories and feed his imagination. If you want to help Brian’s son with this, please consider buying Brian a coffee on his ko-fi page:

The tritriplicata I read in the show, is titled Where’s Wally. This one’s for your son, Brian:

Where’s Wally,
it’s almost like, but in
black and white. Dots and spots and somewhere
the start of you; speck in
ultrasound.

A tritriplicata is a poem written in a form I created, want to know more about that, here’s the ultimate tritriplicata FAQ:
