Day 183 (July 21, 2017)
In today’s issue: A Spice-less Day
If you haven’t heard yet, the White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer, has resigned. Spicer’s angry resignation happened as President Trump offered Anthony Scaramucci the communications director position.
Buh-bye Spicyyyy
It’s only been 6 months with him, but honestly, it feels like its been way too long. So much lying, so many scandals, so much embarrassment. It’s unclear how he lasted even 6 months.
And in such a short period of time, Spicer managed to amass some incredibly memorable moments.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders will be his replacement, thus the official White House Press Secretary.
And people are wondering if anything will be different.
Mm..probably not. Everything will probably stay the same as long as the puppet master that is Donald Trump remains in office. And yet…
Today was the FIRST ON-CAMERA press briefing since June 29! Which is great for our democracy. Let’s hope that the old normal will be reinstated as the new normal under Sanders, and cameras will be allowed to be ON during the briefings.
So, what’s Spicer going to do next?
Shouldn’t be too hard to find a job — his negative reputation is probably a plus in DC.
Rest in Covfefe, Spicer. It’s been real.
And of course the week can’t end without ANOTHER obstruction story. Buried under the news of Spicer resigning, Washington Post reported that Trump has been inquiring whether he can pardon aides, family members, and even himself.
Whoever leaked this, thank you.
Although apparently this discussion is purely hypothetical at this point, if Trump actually pardoned himself in the face of the ongoing Mueller investigation, it would set off a legal and political shitstorm.
But then again, “political shitstorm” is Trump’s middle name. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
