The G-Rage, my childhood hangout home to many happy memories. It was a the second floor of a detached garage round my mates house. It was our man cave and we couldn’t have wished for more. Here are ten of the classic tracks we used to play here.

I’m sure all the garage lads would agree our childhood would have been completely different without this safe haven. While we may not have respected it as well as we should have all the time, we all appreciated the benefits of having the G-Rage as our den of iniquity. It was our second home.

I would like to thank Charlie but more importantly Charlie’s parents, Alison and Steve for their incredible hospitality. I don’t know how many times they have fed me but it must be in the hundreds. Not to mention the delicious home baked goodies. Gnuts, peanut butter choc slices and more.

Furthermore, I want to thank them for their patience. We certainly ran the gauntlet here with a number of incidents that are best left unmentioned. In particular, I owe them for being discreet about one such incident during year 8. I’m sure that everyone who visited the G-Rage would join me in saying a big thank you.

Some of the crew

We had many a good night at the G-Rage. From relaxing with a couple of people to raving with over 50.

I’ll try to list them in time order as much as possible starting with two of the original rave tunes that we used to play back in the early days. This should bring back some good memories.

We had a sweet set-up

Sandstorm — Darude

Destination Calabria (Feat. Crystal Waters) — Alex Gaudio

Next I have a couple of reggae classics that we listened to for as long back as I can remember.

Mary Jane — Rick James

Did You Really Know — Mungo’s Hifi, Soom T

Now for some of the tunes that my man Ashurst brought to the G-Rage. You could always rely on him to have the tunes.

Bongo bong — Manu Chao

We Play The Music — Skool Of Thought, Ed Solo

Folsom Prison Blues — Johnny Cash

The Johnny Cash tune in particular I remember because we had at least one night of just monging while listening to Folsom Prison Blues. Good times.

Then there was Collie Buddz a singer from Bermuda who we used to enjoy. Not so much anymore. But this one is still a tune.

Come Around — Collie Buddz

Finally, always going to be a top tune.

Good Enough — Serial Killaz

Charlie, Fabz, Jams, Ashurst, Gallahad, Senners, Kenna, Cas and everybody else who I have missed out (sorry). Hope you enjoyed the musical memory journey. Strachan one in the G-Rage for me. Hopefully it won’t be refurbished by the time I’m back.
