This week brought the signing of an Executive Order with a focus on technology. I wanted to highlight this part:

The message is clear: technology matters, and modern design and technology practices are critical to unlocking better government services.

Americans want their government to be effective, and the success or failure of many government projects today depends on technology expertise. The rest of that executive order creates an American Technology Council under the Office of American Innovation with representation from technical voices, including the U.S. Digital Service. The American Technology Council will have the ability to convene stakeholders throughout government to drive the best possible decisions regarding technology. This will clear the path to accelerate our projects across the government.

Over and over again, I’ve seen technology expertise improve decisions and make important projects more likely to succeed. That’s why the USDS was created: to bring tech talent and best practices to bear on important projects that help the American people. That’s why we’re still here and doing work that matters.
