If you are an equity analyst, you are probably using Bloomberg. If you are using Bloomberg here are your 5 top functions to know.

EQS

Your one stop shop to everything Bloomberg and equity related. It acts as a google of sorts trying to search for companies as per the criterion you put in. Its used by analysts/portfolio managers/traders etc.

It also has a watchlist that allows you to rank and sort your returns

Wei

Every client I’ve met most likely has the world equity indices. This contains the performance of all the major indices in the world broken down by region

Beta

Allows you to analyze the beta or sensitivity of the stock to its underlying index. This can be brought into excel. I have seen spreadsheets with this information being stacked at the top for analysis.

Anr

Bloomberg compiles analyst recommendations for thousands of companies and publishes it here. Additionally, Bloomberg publishes a best rating which is a Bloomberg best.

Gp Graphing function. This allows you to create price alerts/perform technical analysis on Bloomberg. If you don’t need all this stuff it simply plots the price chart of a stock.

You can connect this to news/events/other charts/stock analysis functions etc. Super useful and everyone uses this in some shape or form.

Happy Bloomberging!
