Chargers owner Dean Spanos made a bold move this offseason by moving the Bolts from San Diego to Los Angeles. After a long stint in San Diego the Chargers got a sad farewell from San Diego and was met by a less than welcoming crowd in Los Angeles. This made it clear Los Angeles wasn't the right move for the Chargers, although there could still a bright side. The move for the Chargers could prove entertaining in many ways including a healthy dose of competition, a number of young superstars, and a city that has plenty of experience cheering on two teams.

After disappointing seasons both the Rams and the Chargers teams come for vengeance. Both teams have made changes to their coaching staffs and are looking to rebound their team and lead them into playoff contention. There’s nothing more fun in sports than a good rivalry. That’s exactly what these two teams can become. Almost like the Angel- Dodger rivalry that we all love seeing. Football needs more rivalries and this couldn’t be a better situation to have one. Nothing can beat a battle to claim the city as theirs.

The Chargers come in boasting a much improved coaching staff with the addition of Anthony Lynn and Gus Bradley. Not only do they have a great coaching staff now, they also have a very talented and young team. The Chargers had one of the best rookie classes including Joey Bosa, who won Defensive Rookie of the Year, and other players like Hunter Henry, Jatavis Brown and Drew Kaser. They also have a talented running back with Melvin Gordon coming off a breakout sophomore season.

On the Rams side they have Todd Gurley who is looking to bounce back after his disappointing season. They also boast Jared Goff who has a chance to become a superstar if they can improve their offensive line. The rams also have a top-ranked defenses now led by highly coveted defensive coordinator Wade Phillips and young players like Robert Quinn and Aaron Donald.

There is no reason LA can’t handle two football teams. This city is made for sports and if they can support two basketball teams they can certainly support two football teams. The Clippers and Lakers rivalry is always fun to watch and that’s what could happen with the Rams and Chargers. The Clippers who also came from San Diego were able to win LA fans over in the past decade with their success and playoff runs. The Chargers already have a team that can carry them deep into the playoffs, with a good 2017 season the Bolts could slowly start to make their way into the hearts of Angelinos.
