One of the most welcomed acquisitions Monterey Bay F.C. made last year was signing forward Luther Archimede. Unfortunately, the season did not go well for him, as he was unable to break out during the first few matches before going down with a serious knee injury that kept him out of action the rest of the way.
The 25-year-old Archimede was born in Guadalupe and grew up in France — playing professionally there as a teen. He attended college at Syracuse University, becoming the 13th overall player taken in the first round of the 2021 MLS draft by the New York Red Bulls. He scored four goals in 14 appearances with their Red Bulls II squad before moving on to Sacramento Republic of USL Championship for the 2022–23 seasons.
The striker became a bit of a revelation with Sacramento. Usually coming off their bench, he scored 11 times and chipped in three assists in 56 matches (13 starts) before moving on to Monterey Bay.
