It’s in the playbook of every professional sports franchise to talk about resetting and changing things up after finishing seasons that fell short of expectations. Sometimes that happens but more often than not it’s just lip service to buy time and distance. After missing the playoffs in each of their first three seasons, Monterey Bay F.C. has entered this offseason with such a fiery intensity and determination to turn things around that you just might want to believe that they mean it.

After finishing the 2024 season in 11th place in the Western Conference with an 8–10–16 record, their 34 points was their worst output since they began playing. Head Coach Jordan Stewart took over for the venerable Frank Yallop earlier this summer, but rampant injuries took their toll on being able to build any momentum or substantial change to secure a spot in the postseason.

Instead of crossing their fingers and hoping that things will finally work out, the club has clearly gotten ticked off and become…
