A major stumbling block for Monterey Bay F.C. during the 2024 season was scoring goals (which went hand in hand with numerous injuries to key players). A key goal for this offseason is shoring up the offense, and the club took a major step towards addressing that by signing center-forward Mayele Malango, who most recently played for the Chattanooga Red Wolves of USL League One this year.

The 27-year-old native of Africa (was born in Congo but raised in Malawi) and played two years collegiately (one year each) at Salem State and the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. He has played professionally in multiple stops, including most notably the New England Revolution II and Chattanooga, with whom he has spent the past two seasons. At such a young age, he has already led a remarkable life, both on and off the pitch, as detailed earlier this summer by Alex Ashton of League One Updater.
