Monterey Bay FC Welcomes a Rejuvenated El Paso Locomotive in Playoff Race Battle
The USL Championship Western Conference may start to get just a little bit clearer after this match

With the 2025 USL Championship regular season now nearly half over, the importance and meaning of each match is becoming ever more significant. Working to make the postseason for the first time in the history of the franchise, Monterey Bay FC will welcome the El Paso Locomotive to Seaside on Saturday; a club also striving for the playoffs following their worst season ever in 2024.
Currently, El Paso is fifth in the Western Conference standings with 20 points, just a tick above sixth-place Monterey Bay and their 19 points. Both are hot on the heels of first-place New Mexico, who is on top with 22 points, but they have one and two games in hand respectively on this weekend’s opponents.
Monterey Bay may have been disappointed by their 11th-place finish last season but they still finished two points on top of El Paso, who brought up the rear of the conference with an 8–8–18 record.
