Morey Doner Leaves Ironclad Legacy With Monterey Bay F.C.

The USL Championship standout will be moving on to the next chapter of his distinguished career in 2025

Unexpected news was dropped earlier today when it was announced the Monterey Bay F.C. transferred stalwart right-back Morey Doner to Detroit City FC for an undisclosed fee. The soon-to-be 31-year old veteran will start a new chapter of his career in 2025 but leaves behind an ironclad legacy in Seaside that won’t be forgotten easily.

Although his all-out all the time style of play could have easily earned him the nickname of the Energizer Bunny, Doner became defined by his aptly appropriate title of Iron Man. During the past three seasons with Monterey Bay, he appeared in all 102 USL Championship league matches, playing in 9,117 of a possible 9,180 minutes. This is an astonishing accomplishment when contemplating the physical rigors demanded of players.

His ability to avoid to injury and fatigue flew in the face of the way he plays every time he steps on the pitch. A familiar sight at Cardinale Stadium was Doner tearing down the right side of the field with a speed usually reserved for a small child (or me) when they hear the ice…
