Notes for the March 15th Match Between Monterey Bay FC and the Oakland Roots

On Saturday, March 15th, Monterey Bay F.C. will host the Oakland Roots at Cardinale Stadium for their 2025 home opener. During MBFC’s history, their closest neighbor has also been a top rival, and this will only be ratcheted up this year as the club seeks to make the playoffs for the first time in their young history. Here are some notes pertaining to the upcoming contest.

-New MBFC forward Luke Ivanovich is officially in town and training with the club. The 24-year-old Australian is already a veteran of seven seasons with the Aussie A-League and Finnish Premier League (Veikkausliiga). Noted for his speed and deft ability with the ball at his foot, MBFC will obviously want to get a real-time look in a game of what they have. However, they may not want to throw him in just yet with his recent arrival. They may also still be trying to determine if the rotation that was set coming out of preseason can be an effective one. If he doesn’t make an appearance against Oakland, you should expect to see him shortly, as upcoming Cup match…
