Four Seasons in Haiku
How many words does it take to explains the seasons?
Generally haiku are written individually. I was curious about writing a series of haiku that fit together, at least thematically. It took me a while to come up with a concept that would work, but I finally decided to go with the four seasons: spring, summer, winter, and fall.
Snowdrops are here again
They signal the start of spring
Warmth is on its way.
Sound of cicadas
Emerging their slumber
Sound of summer heat.
Leaves fall as winds blow
Cooler weather is coming
Time to pick apples.
Sounds muffled by snow
An eerie silence takes hold
Pristine winter land.
