Getting
Your Posts
Listed

You can post your stories unlisted on Medium. This is a great feature that enables us to share with a select group of people or to get our posts polished and refined until we feel ready to share them — potentially — with the whole world.
I don’t have any problems with the first perk of this feature. Well, I don’t have a problem with the second one, either. To some extent…
What if that moment never comes. You’ll end up with great posts waiting in drafts without getting their share of valuable TTR and qualitative feedback which has the power to improve and evolve your stories and ideas. You’ll miss the chance to connect with the right readers.
Maybe — just maybe — you are right, your post is not ready and no editor in their right mind would approve it to be published in a publication. But, even if your story is not a delight to read, it might still light a spark in one of your fellow writer/reader’s mind. Which would eventually turn into an inspired, great post. After all Medium is a network of ideas that build off each other.
What is The Unlisted?

What you have read so far might have provided you with some context regarding what we are trying to achieve with The Unlisted. We are a new publication launching today. We are open to anything. We’ll try to accept anything and give feedback on the ones we are not ready to publish just yet at that moment.
Maybe you solely want the cream of the crop. There are already plenty of publications serving that purpose: Matter, Cuepoint, Human Parts, The Coffeelicious, The Message and many more. This doesn’t mean we won’t have great posts here. It means less vocal ideas and amateur Medium users will be able to heard— not that there are pro users but there are some who got the hang of this i.e. Ali Mese.
What we are offering to the readers is new voices with all kinds of backgrounds, speaking their mind on a variety of topics. You can discover that one amazing story from that one-off writer here. Maybe, he or she won’t ever publish another one. And we’ll be happy to be home to his or her one and only story.
Publications are meant to be focused but we want more people to be heard, discovered and get their share of valuable reading time on Medium. So there will be posts about anything by anyone here. You can think of The Unlisted as a Medium inside Medium. Submit your stories and leave your brushstroke(s) on this canvas to form an ever-evolving unique collective piece of art.
We’ll be hunting down stories that are not on any publication yet. Posts on anything which we think suit this publication’s spirit. We would be extremely happy if you contact us — before we reach out to you — by any means necessary:
- Tweet us (@TheUnlistedPub) — yes, you can think of this place as a pub if that’s how you feel
- Send us an e-mail
- Leave a note on the posts written by @TheUnlistedPub
The Unlisted doesn’t have the followers it needs to accomplish its mission yet since we have just launched. If you somehow came across this post and found it interesting, please hit the “recommend” button below and help us spread the word. Thanks!
Disclaimer: Despite what my vague bio might lead you to think, The Unlisted is not one of Medium’s in-house publications.
