Time for a Career Change
Software Engineering is no longer a viable career.
I have been out of work for about 5 weeks as I reached the end of my one-year contract with Landstar. In normal times, I receive multiple recruiter contacts per day. Now, I have received one recruiter contact in five weeks. I’ve applied for over 100 jobs on Dice, Indeed and Linked in. Almost all applications were rejected within 48 hours without generating a single recruiter response thus far. It may be my age, but I doubt it. No, I think that the employment market collapse for Software Engineers is upon us due to AI and it’s time to find another career path.
To that end, I’ve decided to go into Roadside Assistance. It offer an opportunity to help people while utilizing the main skill of a software engineer: Problem Solving. Unfortunately, I’ve burned through my savings over the last month and have reached a place where I need help to make this a reality. In years past I could count on rideshare to provide cash in a crunch, but both Uber and Lyft have cut driver pay so much that it’s just not profitable any longer. So, I need help. I’ve started a GoFundMe to raise the money I need to establish a new business and buy the tools necessary for performing Roadside Assistance Services. The link to the gofundme is: https://gofund.me/e5fea557
I’m not asking for much. I have no ideations of the gofundme being a mjaor money maker. I just need some cash to get started. If you have enjoyed the content I’ve posted about Software Engineering, then the best way to thank me would be by donating to the Go Fund Me or buying an item on my Amazon Wishlist for the tools I need to get started.
And if you have a position available for a Senior Software Engineer with 29 years of experience, let me know. My linked in profile is:
