Including iPhone 7, App Store, Apple Watch, and more.

Apple started out with updates on the App Store. Which is usually the section of the event where I check out. There was nothing that I cared about until Tim Cook brought out Shigeru Miyamoto to announce Mario on iOS. Gamers on the iPhone have been craving Mario ever since gaming really became a plausible option on the iPhone. The concept of Nintendo coming to iPhone is a really cool development, and it will be ready at a set price later this year during the holiday season.

Apple Watch

Tim Cook’s legacy will be made up of many different pieces. One of the main and most important judgments of Cook’s career will be based on Apple Watch’s success. As more and more Apple Watch’s sell the judgments continue to flow in. The Apple Watch’s developments this year are key and included a new WatchOS3 as well as a new model.

The most popular aspect out of the Apple Watch presentation was the addition of Pokemon Go on the Apple Watch. As someone who doesn’t play Pokemon go I could care less. What did make for an interesting feature addition was that the new Apple Watch is no longer simply splash proof, but now its swim proof at water resistant 50 meters.

What was really cool is how Apple designed the Watch to have both external speakers and be waterproof at the same time. The physical speakers push out the water which is incredibly fascinating. Apple used a simulator to test effect of watch swimming for years. “We also wanted to make sure Apple Watch was robust enough not just for an occasional swim but for people who want to swim every day.”

Announcing a partnership with Nike and the Apple Watch is a smart move. But what has been the main problem with the Apple Watch has been the battery life. Apple made no mention of a battery life increase or improvement.

iPhone 7 Plus

The iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are now water and dust resistant. The camera is a bit better. iOS 10 is great for everyone under 10 if you love throwing stickers and firework backgrounds on your iMessages. There isn’t a headphone jack anymore. Wireless earbuds are finally a thing. The iPhone 7 includes the A10 processor. That’s about it.

Frankly Apple has spoiled us and their phones are just going to continue to get brighter, faster, and more powerful. This Apple event featured technological advancements that are extraordinary on the intricate level, but the advancements that headline the news weren’t present this year.
