Fortnite Million Dollar Summer Skirmish Week 2: Stream, Power Rankings, and Schedule
Two tournaments, two days, and a million dollars in prizes.
Epic Games takes another shot at hosting their own tournament this week with a style very similar to the beloved Fortnite Friday. This week’s two-part tournament focuses on solo public matches that will be played out on public servers.
There appears to be about $500,000 on the line for Friday’s North American tournament, and another $500,000 on the line for Saturday’s EU version. The format will be 10 different matches of solos that will be based on placement and kills in those games.
The official scoring from Epic’s website is here:
The player with the highest score after 10 Solo matches will be named the winner. Victory Royales and Eliminations in this competition will be scored to determine placement at the end of the event. The top 20 players at the end of the Week 2 Summer Skirmish will be awarded. Scoring is as follows:
Victory Royales: +5 Points
Eliminations: +1 Point
20 or More Eliminations (per game): +10 Points and $10,000
The NA tournament will start at July 20, 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET and the EU tournament will begin on Saturday, July 21, at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. These will be live streamed on their official Twitch channel, but I would also expect the individual streamers to stream their own perspectives just like last week.
First place will grab $60,000, second place will take home $48,000, and the money keeps flowing all the way down to 20th place with $6,000.
Power Rankings
Since these matches will be played on public servers this is the style that should lead to some interesting placements, although the lack of a bracket and teammates again makes this less desirable at first glance then Fortnite Friday (RIP).
- FaZe TFUE: There is a shot this is off. TFUE excels at playing 1 versus 4, and this solo tournament is going to be purely about rotations. He should be great, but there could be a solo rotation master that I just haven’t seen yet.
- HighDistortion: My personal enjoyment of Jimmy’s high kill solo squad games have bled over into how well I think he can do in this tournament. I wouldn’t be surprised for him to not place in the top 10, or win the whole thing.
- TSM_Daequan: We should get to see Dae in his natural element in this tournament. He could be a star.
- FaZe Cloak: This guy is rotation mastermind when it comes to squads. I would expect this to transfer and have him excel.
- Ninja: I would be surprised if Ninja won this tournament.
- 100T_Parrallax
- Liquid Poach
- SypherPK
- TSM_Myth
- NickMercs: Since this is solos, I would assume that NickMercs is playing PS4 lobbies. Hello high kills.
