Week three of Fortnite’s Summer Skirmish is here. We’re returning back to private lobbies for this one as Epic tests out their theories and research as to why the servers crashed so bad in week one.

It remains to be seen how and if Epic can make private lobby Fortnite tournaments as exciting as public match tournaments. The game will likely be played slower and more methodical by the teams. The lack of flash will hurt the tournament as a whole but the competitive style could be a nice change of pace.

What remains to be seen is if Epic’s scoring system will make the gameplay more fast paced, or if playing it careful till there’s 15 people left in the seventh circle is still the destiny.

The official scoring from Epic’s website is here:

The first Duos team to reach 13 points is the winner. Victory Royales and Eliminations in this competition will be scored to determine placement at the end of the event. The top 20 teams at the end of the Summer Skirmish will be awarded.

Victory Royale: +4 Points
5 or more Eliminations: +2 Points
Most Eliminations (per match): $6500

Epic Games

The NA tournament will start on Friday July 27, 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET and the EU tournament will begin on Saturday, July 28, at 10 a.m. PT/1 p.m. ET. These will be live streamed on their official Twitch channel, but the individual streamers will be showing off their game play as well on their respective channels.

First place will grab $60,000, second place will take home $48,000, and the money keeps flowing all the way down to 20th place with $6,000. There’s also a $6,500 most eliminations per match bonus.

Power Rankings

PRIVATE SERVERS. Alright, now this went horribly in week one. But Epic has had two weeks to re-think and model their servers in a way that benefits the crazy endings that private lobby games lead too.

Duo games could lead to some real strategy, especially, if the servers are fixed. PLEASE BE FIXED.

Anyways, let’s get to ranking the top teams.

  1. Liquid72HRS and LiquidChap: If getting wins ends up being the entire strategy for this tournament then the Liquid squad could easily win two games and also combine that with some higher kill games. They’re so good at late game building and just staying alive. Their many hours scrimming in environments like this one make this style of tournament routine work.
  2. FaZe TFUE and FaZe Cloak: There’s a chance TFUE and Cloak don’t win a game, but still come out on top in this tournament. They could easily have a few games with over 10 kills and if the scoring system rewards that with double kill points, they could make quick work of the tournament.
  3. TSM_Myth and TSM_Hamlinz: In my heart I think they have a chance at winning it, but in reality I don’t see them beating some of the lesser known scrim heavy players.
  4. Hysteria and High Distortion: I’m a sucker for HighDistortion. That’s all.
  5. Tempo Payne and Tempo VapeJesus: If I’m being honest I haven’t watched these guys much, I’ve just seen them dominate in some scrims from time to time and know they’re capable of playing concise and smart Fortnite.

If you enjoyed this piece, give it a few claps 👏 👏 so others see it too!
