Who says they are too old to understand you? Age is just a number!

Have you ever felt that there is a generation gap between you and your parents? And, that they never understood you and cannot understand you?

Having that feeling like a teenager or at any stage of life is genuine because they definitely lived in different circumstances than yours. But, they still have a brain and a heart that can help them understand yours if you want.

I have also been the one who faced several challenges in life, like not being allowed to do things that I wanted to do sometimes, not being understood when I really needed sometimes or maybe being misunderstood many a time by my parents. But, there came a time when I got exposed to the real world and its people. I met ethereal souls, but they were rare.

One thing that was stagnant was the love that my parents showed despite horrible reactions from my end sometimes. And, that made me think, “Why not try and make them your friends, Arundhati?” I started sharing my stories, experiences and even secrets with them and I started realising that they do understand and trust me. And, I am glad that today they are one of the best people in my life — the ethereal ones.

Trust me, your parents always want to see you happy. They might be mistaken sometimes. But, they are humans, aren’t they? And, humans are bound to make mistakes. It’s not about what mistakes they made. It’s about how you can forgive them just as they do, communicate your feelings and views to them and make them realise that you too have a point when you say something.

This is also an experience — making your parents your best friends. Why not try it out? 🙂
