Last month Karl-Lydie Jean-Baptiste, our Media Relations Coordinator, stopped by Bad Gal Radio hosted by Zumix Radio to talk about our upcoming event “Souls of Women: Womanism, Arts, Music and Social Change” happening October 14 at Zumix, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building the community through music and creative technology.

“Souls of Women” is a panel discussion with Boston’s black and brown female artists, musicians and creative entrepreneurs discussing their ability to redefine womanism, and how they each use their creative work to engage diverse audiences, shift culture and/or contribute to social movements across Greater Boston.

Panelists for this event are Adrienne T. Hawkins, jazz dancer and legendary choreographer; Paloma Valenzuela, screenwriter, director, and creator of La Gringa Loca Productions; spoken word artist Jha D. Williams, who will also be performing, and Adobuere Ebiama, actress and model. Educator, composer, and performer Allyssa Jones returns as the moderator for the panel.

Check out the episode below where Karl-Lydie and Bad Gal Radio host Angelina discuss the importance of the event, the women featured on the panel, thoughts on SZA, and getting your nails done.

Don’t miss this great, all ages discussion on October 14 at 6 PM at Zumix. Tickets are $12 for students and $20 for adults with group packages available by contacting us at info@bamsfest.org. Visit bamsfest.org for more information and follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
