On Wednesday, Tank and the Bangas performed at the Museum of Fine Arts as part of the Elaine and Jerome Rosenfeld Concerts in the Courtyard series and they were amazing! If you’re not familiar with their music, it’s a blend of spoken word, soul, r&b, and hip hop.

The set was a high energy rollercoaster of emotions. Tank’s vocals alternate between soft, child-like, powerful and everything in between. If there was a storyline it would have been a theatrical performance. There was laughter at Tank’s comments and in agreement with the poetry interspersed with the songs, and silent observation as she and back up singer Jelly delivered a beautiful cover of “Wonderful” by Lianne La Havas.

Tank and the Bangas is most definitely a band you have to experience live. Those lucky enough to have snagged tickets to their sold out show at The Sinclair, will have that opportunity September 14th. For everyone else, you can watch their NPR Tiny Desk performance.

Check out the video below for a sneak peak of the show. Want more? Follow BAMS Fest on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for additional video clips of the amazing performances.

You can also take a look at the photos below for the many moods of lead singer Tarriona “Tank” Ball. And as always, visit the BAMS Fest website to learn more about our organization, how you can get involved and the Boston Art & Music Soul Festival debuting in 2018 at Franklin Park!
