my prediction of the week: social media is about to see its Protestant Reformation

An extended analogy to illustrate:

the iPhone is the printing press (technology that fundamentally shifts how information is shared)

Facebook is the Catholic Church (an organization that controls mass information)

Zuckerberg is the Pope (the one who leads)

Fake News is Hocus Pocus (the center of information is losing control over truth and dissemination)

The masses are the masses (all peoples have a breaking point)

Who will be our Martin Luther?

If it’s you (maybe it’s me) please post those 95 Theses to Zuck’s FB wall ASAP.

Additional things to consider:

  1. Whoever creates the first alternative will take the largest audience.
  2. What will this reformation look like? And what kinds of individuals have to lead the change? Or, what kinds of personalities will the masses get behind?

What do you think? I wanna hear your thoughts.
