After sitting out from last year’s Student Council Election (SCE), Campus Alliance for Dedicated and Unified Action (CADUA) had a nearly full slate win as per the official results of the SCE 2024 posted by the official Facebook page of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), on May 29.

Eight out of nine candidates from CADUA won positions in the University of the Philippines Baguio University Student Council (UPB USC). Two out of three councilors secured a position in the council. Meanwhile, all of their college representatives won.

Anna Pamela Custodio and Mark Jansen Asuncion secured their positions as councilors with 537 votes and 447 votes, respectively.

Candidates for College of Science representatives, Caitlin Soul Garcia won with 263 votes, and Jose Miguel Tinio won with 231 votes.

All candidates for College of Social Science representatives topped the list, with Raizen Saimon Gulto with 390 votes, Hannah May Cabria with 180 votes, and Kian Ashley Cruz with 162 votes.

CADUA’s sole representative for the College of Arts and Communication, Czarina Anne Lumapas, won with 187 votes.

According to Yona Lu, CADUA’s Vice Chairperson for Issue and Statement, one prominent factor influencing their win was the training period the candidates went through for the elections.

“We had to train them for numerous situationers as well as how to build proper projects that in [return] translated to their presented Specific Plans of Action and General Plan of Action,” she mentioned.

Lu added that in addition to the training, the Miting de Avance (MDA) also showed the candidates’ potential as they answered the questions provided by the COMELEC.

Lu also shared that CADUA’s official slate of candidates represents the organization’s tagline, “Mula sa Pamantasan, Tungo sa Lipunan, Ating Alpasan, Kadena ng Bayan.”

“We wanted people who are willing to run for their respective positions, we took in mind the track record, as well as their passion to be a leader, and poured 100 percent into the training period for the slate,” she added.

SCE 2024 was CADUA’s return to the SCE after not joining last year’s elections.

On the other hand, the Alliance of Concerned Students (ACS) won the 13 remaining seats in the SCE, while Alternatibong Katipunan ng mga Mag-aaral (AKMA) has no wins.
