“Making a game is like constructing a building during an earthquake or trying to run a train as someone else is laying down track as you go…”

Jason Schreier

To ordinary eyes, developing a video game might seem fun and exciting. That’s because it is. Developers learn a lot throughout the process, come across new, often interesting features, and refine their skills and talents. But to everything fun and exciting, there are things that go unmentioned or unnoticed. Like in a good play, once it’s over the audience starts cheering, clapping, and encouraging the actors and their efforts. What the audience fails to realize, and often for valid reasons, is that there’s a massive curtain that separates what they see from what actually goes on behind the scenes.

Video game development, and the industry as a whole, has a lot more to offer than just retail versions of the games you and I love to play. The puzzle we solved in just a couple of minutes, might be the contribution of a dozen individuals working days and nights. Sometimes, even weekends and additional hours for no extra pay.

I believe a story can never be linear. It’s always dynamic with many angles, perspectives, and directions. Every person and element adds something different and unique to the overall. And to fill in those hundreds and thousands of blank spaces, we introduce you — The Video Game Journal.

At The Video Game Journal (or VGJ), we want to step away from the rat-race of publishing news, where just a few seconds hold the power to rank your website way above or way below the average on search engines. As a team of journalists who are extremely passionate about video games, we want to sit back, analyze, relax, research, and work on stories that matter, without having to worry about deadlines.

Most of the stories on our website would be investigative reports, analysis, constructive criticism, long-form editorials, interviews, and reviews. We’ll post news stories as well, but only when we have something to contribute to it.

To stay updated with our work, you can subscribe to our push-notifications and newsletters. You can follow us on social media as well. Here are the links –

Current Status

Right now, we’re looking to expand our team before committing to stories. Since our stories would require a lot of research work, we’re looking for people with the right skills. If you’re one of them, feel free to visit our Careers page by clicking here.

Since we don’t have any content at the moment, the best thing to do would be to follow us on our social media accounts. That way, you’d be notified once we’re ready.

Until next time, Stay Safe and Happy Gaming!
