The 60+ Festival is not your average week of mud and loud music. It holds various classes and events around multiple city venues. These range from ‘Introduction to Facebook.’ to ‘Afternoon Sequence Dancing Class.’ It started on September 30th and lasts until October 12th.

In addition to a range of useful and interesting workshops, it also offers an after-hours event with an open-mic where you can listen to local performers of poetry, music, and signing.

One of the classes on the Festivals brochure is ‘Fiftyfifty Creative Dance for 50+.’

It offers a friendly environment where you can use contemporary dance to exercise, meet new people, and have fun.

The owner, Elly Bolter is a dynamic instructor who has been dancing most of her life. In her words, contemporary dance “brings out the joy in people…It’s for anyone at any age!”

It was Monica Clarke’s first time attending. She heard of the class via the 60+ Festival brochure. Monica has been attending the festival for 3 years. She explained; “I like the choice of workshops, I try to mix it up every year. There’s something for everybody.”
