A number of special displays have appeared in Co-operative Funeralcare branches around Portsmouth to mark Remembrance Day.

The displays commemorate all those who have given their lives for their country in conflicts.

This year is particularly important to many people — marking 100 years since the end of the First World War.

Both employees and members of the public have connections to those who have lost their lives and these displays act as a mark of respect for many.

Felicity Hay, a spokesperson for Co-Operative Funeralcare said: “The displays have had a great response from the public.

“Some have shared photos of them with their friends and family, whereas others have come into our branches to share with us their own special memories.”

In one display, at the Fratton Road Funeralcare, an original copy of the The Evening Post announcing the end of the war is alongside a soldier’s helmet and ammunition, underneath the number ‘100’ formed of poppies.

The company view Remembrance as an important and personal event, which they’re proud to be involved in.

Stores first began to create displays last year and are hoping to continue to in future years.

Remembrance Day is on Sunday November 11.
