With football transfer deadline looming, one player moved more than most last week.

Right midfielder David Wheeler, from Queen’s Park Rangers, was on loan to Portsmouth until the end of the season; however, the player can now be found in the Milton Keynes Dons squad.

QPR recalled Wheeler on Thursday, following a lack of game play.

Having played only 11 games in the league with Portsmouth, QPR activated a clause in the loan agreement which recalled Wheeler.

On Friday, it was announced that the 28-year-old was now on loan with the MK Dons where he will remain until the end of the season.

Portsmouth fan Anthony Davies said: “I don’t think he was that key for us but it’s understandably a bit annoying to lose a player to someone in the league below.”

The announcement led to a range of reactions from QPR fans too, with many joking about his movements across the three clubs.

Wheeler tweeted that he was grateful for his time at Portsmouth, saying he was “Sad to go, but need to get playing regularly.”

He is now hoping to have more regular play as part of the League Two team.
