Tens of thousands of people are expected to turn out at Portsmouth’s Gunwharf Quays for the fireworks extravaganza, all in aid of Barnardo’s.

On Thursday November 8, the display will light up the sky, raising money for Barnardo’s Children’s Charity.

Wave 105 will host the event which will have guest performances from JP Cooper and Chelcee Grimes.

Gunwharf Quays will also be switching on their Christmas lights and shops will remain open till 9pm.

Wade Broomfield, 20, attending the fireworks, said: “I’m really looking forward to it, it gets better every year.

“It’s always a really nice evening and the perfect start to Christmas. Gunwharf is always packed and everyone always seems to be having a good time.”

Volunteers for the charity will also be at the event with collection buckets ready to take any loose change people are willing to part with.

The Barnardo’s bears will also be attending the event, entertaining visitors during the displays and encouraging people to donate.

All proceeds donated to Bernardo’s will be helping children in desperate need of it.

For more information on the display, visit the Gunwharf Quays website.
