The News, Portsmouth together with the University of Portsmouth hosted election hustings for the Portsmouth North candidates to address the local voters and have their questions answered.

Candidates expressed their different views on the education, social care, the NHS and Brexit amongst other important topics. Despite both candidates clashing during some of the policies discussed, the MPs were clear about the need to better the community in the Portsmouth North.

We asked the Conservative candidate Penny Mordaunt and the Labour candidate Amanda Martin to briefly explain the main priorities they will focus on if elected in the office.

Liberal Democrat candidate Antonia Harrison was unable to attend the hustings due to health issues, but her opening statement was still read to the audience. Image: Dina Grinevica
