Following the release of ‘508–507–2209’ in 2017, Joyner Lucas garnered attention from Hip Hop fans and artists as he blended conscience rap with a mainstream cadence.

Rap God Eminem described him as ‘genius’ and said he ‘stood out’ from others. The praise came after he joined Eminem on his Kamikaze album for ‘Lucky You’, a track which went platinum in late October.

Now the ‘I’m Not Racist’ artist aims to takeover as Hip Hop’s rising star with the imminent release of his new album entitled ‘ADHD’.

So far fans have only been treated to visuals for his first single. With just shy of 10 million views, the ‘I Lovemusic video has been showered with compliments by fans. In keeping with his previous videos ‘I Love’ is filled with distinctive visuals like a bright pink car, a talking mannequin and an ultra-violet party.

Joyner embraces trap music with this new single and this becomes more noticeable once you hear the song’s chorus; however, he hasn’t compromised any lyrical content for the sake of the single’s more relaxed tone.

The East Coast rapper also takes a more introspective approach. He refers to his struggled youth and how he’s seen as an outsider in the industry but it’s quite clear that being an underdog is what fuels him to take “aim at the industry”. Earlier this month he announced the project on his Instagram and said: “This project is my big f**k you to anybody who has ever stood in my way.”

Therefore it’s quite clear that we can expect ADHD to portray a more aggressive and less humble Joyner Lucas as he tries to cement his place alongside the likes of J Cole, Kendrick Lamar and Logic as one of the bigger new age rappers.

As for now we only know of one other song on the album. Joyner revealed that he will team up with Eminem again. He told Hot New Hip Hop: “We’re into Joyner Lucas territory, storytelling territory. That’s what me and Eminem, we both do best.”

With storytelling songs like ‘Ross Capicchioni’ and ‘I’m Sorry’ already in his discography, teaming up with the rapper behind ‘Stan’ is surely going to produce another storytelling masterpiece.

The release date for ‘ADHD’ remains unknown.
