Almost two years and 30 million votes since the country voted to leave the EU in the referendum, many people on the streets of Portsmouth still stick by their views that Theresa May’s bid to leave is what’s best for the country.

Theresa May has brought a 585-page draft leave deal to her Cabinet, Parliament and to the country.

The draft bill has set out the future relationship between the UK and the EU. Find out the details on the Brexit draft here.

With a population of over 200,000, Portsmouth brought a 70.3% turnout in favour of leaving the EU. Those interviewed all clearly reflected the ‘leave’ attitude, some suggesting there should be more information given to the public for a more ‘educated’ vote, and others highlighting controversial border opinions.

Cynthia Evans commented: “I voted no to going in in the first place and I feel like we’re being ruled by all the European countries too much. Our borders aren’t our own any more.”

Ian Robinson said: “She’s coming up with a bill to accommodate everybody’s points of views. Whether it’s the best deal for the country is a different matter.”
