Portsmouth FC will travel to Kingsmeadow for the first time this season to take on the struggling AFC Wimbledon.

Pompey are currently three points clear at the top of the league, and AFC Wimbledon sit at 20th, only a point off the drop zone.

AFC Wimbledon will be hoping for a win to create distance between themselves and the drop zone, but Pompey will also want the points to gain some breathing space at the top.

AFC Wimbledon have had a weak start to a tough season, having only won six out of their last eight home games in all competitions.

Portsmouth are looking for a better result this week, after they lost 2–0 to Gillingham away.

The two teams last met in the first round of the league cup in August, which saw AFC Wimbledon come out on top with a 2–1 win.

According to Kenny Jackett, Portsmouth Manager, the only players that are unable to play are Andre Green and David Wheeler due to injury.

Gareth Evans will be fit to play, even though he played in last Saturday’s home defeat to Gillingham, and Tuesday night’s Checkatrade Trophy clash against Crawley Town.

AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley said that James Hanson is available after being out injured for two weeks, and they are close to having a full squad.

Teams from all over the country will be battling it out to gain the top spot, or to stay away from the danger zone.

Pompey superfan Steve Courtney said: “So far this season the performance of the squad has been really positive and its created a good vibe around the city.

“With only one defeat so far and some great performances from the team it looks like it’s going to be a great season. Hopefully we can secure promotion.

“Many fans will be very disappointed if we don’t, so play up Pompey!”
