With the emergence of the internet, many new jobs have come with it. Online streaming was once a thing that only professional organisations could hope to do but now with Twitch and YouTube, it is easier than ever to create your own channel and start building a career around just filming what you love.

James Lewis from Southsea has found since finishing his university degree that not only is streaming a fun and enjoyable pastime for both himself and viewers, but also, he can actually make money out of it, meaning that he can spend less time at work and more time streaming.

The money brought in by live online streaming on Twitch is due to ad revenue, and once a streamer has built up enough viewers and support, they can start doing it as a job — whether that be full-time or part-time.

James, who has over 6,000 followers, has just got his partnership with Twitch after a long time of building up his fan base.

He says: “The partnership with Twitch was more of a milestone. It wasn’t something I needed to do but it gives me a boost and the confirmation that I’m doing well and I’m going to make it on the internet.”
