Portsmouth’s City Council following Five year plan to tackle Mental Health
The mental health strategy report 2016–2021 has produced eleven pledges which they wish to have implemented and improved by 2021.
With a population of over 280,000 people, Portsmouth’s increasing statistics of people affected by mental health is a concern. Working with different health care providers such as ‘CAMHS’, located in Solent, the city council are successfully continuing to complete their promised pledges.
The city councils report promises to increase the amount of support available for those who are vulnerable by increasing the amount of power put into the planning and delivery of their services.
Portsmouth City Council are encouraging people who feel that they have a mental health concern, to reach out for help as its found that over half of individuals would feel uncomfortable speaking to an employer about their mental health.
The report’s outcome after enforcing their actions is to reduce the stigmatization surrounding the term ‘Mental Health’.
